I have just had an upgrade from Windows 98 to WindowsXP
Professional. All documents have three lines of
ssssssssssssss which I cannot seem to delete. I have
tried: highlighting text and presssing the delete key.
The three rows of ssssssssssssssss disappear, only to
appear again when the computer is rebouted. I have tried
shift/delete key with no success. I have tried edit,
calcel again with no success. It seems that all pages
(documents) have these sssssssssssssssssssssss and I do
not know how to remove them. I have tried saving them to
the "a" drive (floppy). When I open the floppy disk it
reflects the files are there with sssssssssssssssss;
however it has not managed to remove them from the
microsoft document screen. Need help desperately in
having clean documents to work from.

Have you run anti-virus on the machine?
