When I boot up everything appears to load fine, then as it finishes booting,
the Windows/System32 folder opens over the top of my Desktop. It doesnt do
any damage and is more a hinderance having to close it all the time. Can
someone please help me with the steps on how to stop this happening.

"This behavior can occur if a null, incomplete, or damaged entry exists in the registry".

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down
to Item No. 260. In the right column, click on "System32 Folder Opens
Upon Boot". Download this repair file and then run the repair.

Look at Folder Options/view to see if "restore previous
folder at logon" is checked.
