I have Win XP Pro on my desktop, and 98SE on my laptop.
When I try to read floppies from laptop on my home comp.,
it tells me the disk is not formatted. Is this a file
system issue between nts and fat32? What can I do?

No. NTFS and/or FAT32 relates to how your hard disk is formatted.
It seems as though, based on reports, that XP is much more "finicky"
about floppy disks and/or floppy drives. I've noticed same. I use so
few floppies any more I haven't bothered to really debug or understand
it all. Sorry.
However; try formatting the disk on 98 and see if readable on XP, or
visa versa, e.g. format on XP and see if 98 reads it. I'm hoping that
you'll find success with one or the other approachs and from there you
can do it that way.
Another way to exchange files between the two machine would be to use a
LAN connection. Maybe you have LAN ports on both machines already. Get
a LAN cross-over cable to connect them setting up a small network.

If you donīt want to set up a LAN, although itīs very simple, you could
considder using USB memory sticks instead of floppies. They can contain up
to 512MB and are ideal for file swapping between pcīs every now and then.
