You are completly free to go buy and install a copy of Microsoft Excel,
or Microsoft Office which includes Excel. You do not have to remove the
spreadsheet application that you say is already installed.
You don't say what spreadsheet application you have on your machine. XP
doesn't provide a spreadsheet application. If you have one, it was put
there by someone. Probably installed by the vendor from whom you
purchased it as part of their packaging. Read the Help for that
application and they will tell you how to read an Excel file.

Windows xp does not have a spreadsheet. This is progably an appllicatrion
added by the computet manufacturer as part of its program "bundle". Look in
Program Files for anything looking like it may be, like Works, post its
name, and someone should know.

Yes, of course you can.

There is no spreadsheet application that comes with Windows XP,
or with any other version of Windows. If you have one, it's
simply that the vendor you bought the computer from bundled it as
part of the package he sold you. It might be Quattro Pro, or
Microsoft Works, for example.
Depending on what it is, it may or may not be able to read an
Excel spreadsheet.
