Help! I have an emachine that was broached by a trojan.
I reinstalled Windows XP Professional (could not use e-
machine "recovery discs" because of incompatible drive!)
that did NOT come with the computer ... the reinstall was
perfect, I installed Norton Antivirus and Final Draft
screenwriting software and Adobe, and now I am getting a
constant popup stating that the c-drive memory is
critically short (60mb available or somesuch).
Where did all my memory go? Originally, there was a ton
of stuff installed with no problems. Help!

Either you created a very small partition when you installed, or you left a
whole bunch of junk still on the drive. Either of those might leave you
short of hard drive space.

On the other hand, if your error message really says "memory" that's a whole
other thing.
