My desktop icons do not appear on desktop. Currently, I
must go to program list to pull up any programs. I right
clicked my mouse and selected send to desktop shortcut
option and they still won't reappear. My Norton antivirus
shows no viruses, but did recently eliminate Trojan Horse
virus. Don't know if that is somehow related to this.
APpreciate any suggestions.

any chance you've swtiched off Show Desktop?
Right click anywhere on desktop - select Arrange Icons by - and check Show
desktop icons
