address bar

How do I stop addresses from popping up when I start to
type an address to go to.
If I type "www.a" "www.abcnews" automaticaly pops down
under the main address bar.

It gets very annoying. I even tried clearing all my
cookies and history, but it continues to happen.

Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated.
