I get the message' A File Required to run search companion
cannot be found....'

I went to the knowledge base, and tiried all three
suggestions. It says intall SP1, which is already done,
but I tried anyway. Apparently, the searhc function is
required to do that, as I get an error message whe the
site tries to verify my system.

I tried the hotfix, but that only works if the SP isn't
already installed.

I tried re-installing the Srchasst.inf through the run
menu. The files appeared to copy, but no luck. I had to
do some trickery there, however. My Windows XP was
shipped with a license, but no disk (VPR Matrix). I
couldn't locate where the files it requested are, so
borrowed a disk to get them. It may be a slightly
different version. I would hate to re-install windows
(did that already--not fun).

Any suggestions?

Perhaps some you have not tried - at Kelly's link, below. Click on "S",
then scroll down to "Error: "A file that is required to run Search
Companion cannot be found. You may need to run setup"."
