Thanks Malk i took your advice RE: Sound Card problem and
thanks to you i solved my problems.

As for the other suggestion real news reader instead of
the web interface would it be possible to give me more
advice on how to set this up. Having used the web site
you suggested but didnt get any joy into setting it up.

Open Outlook Express, select help, look for news and
accounts.
to get in set your server to msnews.microsoft.com
use a version of your email to label your account (see mine
for an example)


Getting started with Outlook Express

and join any number of newsgroups.

The Internet Connection Wizard helps you connect to one or
more e-mail or news servers. You will need the following
information from your Internet service provider (ISP) or
local area network (LAN) administrator:

a.. To add an e-mail account, you need your account name
and password, and the names of your incoming and outgoing
e-mail servers.
b.. To add a newsgroup, you need the name of the news
server you want to connect to and, if required, your account
name and password.
