I recently installed XP and have had little trouble in adapting, but
one thing I find annoying is the multiplicity of Temporary files,
especially as they appear to accumulate tons of files. Is there a way
to have XP use one tmp file? Also, is there a way to avoid the whole
user thing? To have XP operate as ME or 98, so that all application
data and settings are in one place? And not scattered all over the
damn computer?

Is it a question of them 'being scattered all over the computer', or is it a
case of there being more than just one access point?..

In doing a 'search' I discovered there are a total of 9 'Temp'
directories; some with letters prefixing them. They don't all
'delete' their files after a reboot, so in order to keep the disc
'clean' one has to do it manually. Seems very inefficient.

Also, as to my second question, I attempted to do a burn for backup of
critical files today and was told that I don't have 'permission' for
one of the files I wanted to backup.
