Hi
Can anyone tell me what the following means and will
it do any harm to my system coz i have not got a clue.
C:WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe is preparing to access the
internet.

If you have Windows 200, check out

Windows XP, look at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;314056. Hope this
answers your question.

Steve,
Seeing as how you posted over an hour ago, and no reply so far, I got this
from the first Google search item:
A. Svchost is a generic host process that hosts services run from DLLs. To
find out what's inside each copy of svchost.exe, use the Resource Kit
Support Tools' list.exe (with the -s switch). (You need to install the
Support Tools from \support\tools on your product CD-ROM; they don't install
by default.)
The last part is a bit unnecessary for us home users, but you will find
several instances of svchost running in your processes panel
It's a legitimate XP process.
