How do I tell what version of USB I have on my Windows XP Pro machine?

Read the manual that came with your computer it should tell you whether
you have USB 1.1 or 2.0. If the computer is not a relatively new one you
don't have USB2.0. Check with the computer company. XP has nothing to do
with USB, they only supply the drivers. :-)

The original release of XP does not include support for USB 2. Installing
Service Pack1 will add that.

To determine what kind of hardware your system has, check the system
documentation or check the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" branch of
Device Manager.

How USB 2 is denoted in Device Manager varies between hardware brands. Some
will list as USB 2. Others use a description that is not as exact as USB 2
but the wording will be different enough from the standard "generic USB
Hub" and "USB root Hub" that you will be able to tell which kind you have.
