computer freeze

my computer freezes up after hours on and my boyfriend's
computer can be on for days without freezing up. What is
wrong?

Recently, a friends PC seems to have on of two problems or possibly both.
He has a Via KT400 chipset on the mobo, an Alacatel broadband modem that
draws 500ma from USB ...and a cheap power supply. With the modem
disconnected he occasionally still gets a XP pro lockup, with the modem
plugged in it's worse.....we think !!! :-) So he's gonna buy an externally
powered USB hub and an Antec psu !!

Tiz no good spending hours tweaking software if the hardwares' causing the
problem, you have to be sure you've got robust and fault free hardware to
start with :-)

Download Adaware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ and =
use it to remove parasites.

How large is your hard disk and how much free space? In Windows Explorer =
right click on your C drive and select Properties.

How good is your housekeeping?

1. In Outlook Express empty your Deleted Items folder.

2. In Outlook Express run File, Folder, Compact All whilst OFFLINE.

3. Run Disk Cleanup. Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk
Cleanup.

4. Run Disk Defragmenter.=20
