I'm going to buy windows XP Professional. Should i buy the
full version for $300, or upgrade for $200? What's the
difference for $100? I currently use ME.

If you qualify for the upgrade (own a previous qualifying
version), you should buy the upgrade, since it's cheaper.

There's only one difference between the two: although you can do
a clean installation with either version, the upgrade requires
that you insert a copy of a previous qualifying version's CD as
proof of ownership. Both versions can do upgrades.

As long as you have a previous OS to use as a qualifying product the upgrade
is fine. If you're the sort of person who loses unused CDs, you might want
to consider the upgrade, though. A year from now, if you need to reinstall
and you can't find that old ME cd, it's going to be a pain in the arse to
get reinstalled.
