I am using Road Runner and Eudora for email. I am getting loads of email
telling me that there was a virus and it was repaired and no attachments are
involved and stuff like that. Road Runner couldn't help me because they
don't understand Eudora. I can't get Eudora phone support because I have the
free version. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can stop these pesky
emails?

No way except for getting a new mailbox. A new virus is on the way
("Swen") and is causing this. Beside of that the older Blaster worm
still haunts the Inboxes.
I recommend that you use at least two mailboxes: one for private
purpose and one that you use when you have to give away an email
address in the Internet (like in the Usenet groups). You can then
ignore the latter inbox or have the mail auto-deleted if this is
supported by the mail service provider.

We all are. I got 1400 yesterday. It's a worm on the loose and hopefully
things will calm down in a few days.
Otherwise you need to work out how to set up filters/rules to delete the
stuff automatically.

Interesting that RoadRunner pretended not to know about the storm of
viruses running around the internet in the last few days ...

Can you stop anyone from sending regular junk mail to your letter box? Of
course not!
You can't stop people from sending you junk mail on your computer either

None of this is due to Eudora. The messages about a virus that was repaired
and so on are apparently coming from your virus software. You can probably
go into its profile and quench the messages if you wish -- although if you
have McAfee perhaps not. I got rid of that and moved to Norton specifically
because of all the nattering messages McAfee kept blitzing me with.
What you can do with Eudora which may help somewhat is to create a filter so
that these hundreds of virus spams being sent to you go directly to your
Trash rather than to your Inbox. Click on Tools/Filters and you can probably
follow your nose through the panel to figure out how to set it up. (Or if
you're *really* desparate, read the instructions <g>!)

A simple question was asked and I gave the simplest answer.
You are correct.

To Bill,
You sound like you know what you're talking about. Trouble is, I don't know
how to do the things you recommended. :-( (I have Norton Anti-virus but
don't know how to get them to stop these emails.)

Claire,
I'm not familiar with Eudora, but most email programs have similar features.
The emails from your ISP probably have a common subject title, if they're
like the intercepted virus notification ones I've been getting recently.
Click on your 'options', and look for something called 'message rules'.
You should be able to enter that subject line to identify those emails, and
possibly also have an extra advanced option to 'delete from server'.
Check under 'Help' in Eudora for those titles for more precise guidance.
Hope this helps,
Chek

I have downloaded a program called mailwasher which filters the emails and
send them back, very good tool

Hello Marion,
I tried Mailwasher some time ago and found it more trouble to use than to
just delete the mail I didn't want. But thanks for the suggestion.

You can't stop the e-mails from coming to you, but you can stop incessant
messages about them from badgering you. Open Norton and click on the
"Options" button. Then click on "Email". Then under "How to respond when a
virus is found" click on "Repair then *Silently* delete if unsuccessful". The
tell it "ok" and close the Norton panel. Norton will now quietly deal with
the viruses and stop telling you about every one of them it finds.
