View Full Version : Microphone not working

No matter what I do, I can not record my voice in sound
recorder or any other program using my microphone. I
don't have it muted and I have the volume at its
highest. I read on line that deleting the hotfix (sp2)
fixes it but I don't believe microsoft would write that
into the software without noticing. PLEASE HELP!

Open Volume Controls.
Select Options>Properties.
Place the radio button in Recording.
Place a check next to Microphone.
Click OK and leave the Volume Control window on the desktop.
Open Sound Recorder and try making a recording now.

You're welcome and sorry, Elliot. When you try to record are you getting
the green wavy line in Sound recorder that shows the program is receiving
input? If no, check that you have the mic plugged into the right connector
on the sound card.
Aside: I have a Creative sound card and a notice in the box it came in
mentioned that they had goofed on some cards. The speaker and mic ports
were color coded wrong! Hope you're not dealing with something silly like
that.
