View Full Version : How to restore `system restore`
Restore is not reliable program. If you're using as a
back-up you should consider something else.
You can turn it off from Control Panel > System > and
then> re-boot and it will purge it's file. Then re-boot,
turn> it back on.
And try this if the above does not work.
1. Put the in the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start , Run
3. Type the following then OK
rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf
You can also open Windows Explorer, go to
C:\Windows\Inf folder and right-click sr.inf (Then
Install)

"You can also open Windows Explorer, go to

There doesn`t appear to be a file of that name, there is a file named sr
though.

System Restore is not a cure for all problems, and is certainly
not a substitute for a backup. But it is a very useful feature,
one that has gotten me and many others out of trouble many times.
To even suggest that it could be used as a backup program shows
that you have no idea of what it does.

That would be a foolish thing to do.

You may have Folder Options View set to hide extensions of registered
file types: That is not a good ida if you are doing anything with the
system - and I'm against having it on at all; it makes it that much
easier for some of the trojan nasties to slip in pretending to be
something innocent.
