Install of Win XP Pro upgr hangs when analyzing computer

Tried twice, hung twice,when analyzing my computer.
Using Win XP Pro upgrade and installing on Win 98 OS.
What gives? Any suggestions?

Karen,
At a guess there's some hardware in your PC that XP does not like.
Try disconnecting everything except the monitor, mouse and keyboard and see
what happens then.
