Redundant listings of XP Pro on boot after backup

Every time I back up my system I get another listing of
Windows XP to boot from. I can boot from any of them but
I just want to get rid of the list. I have run something
from the command prompt before and simply deleted each
one up to #1, but I forget what to run to do this.
Any help is appretiated.
