files copied to cd do not retain original date

is there a way to retain the original date of files and
folders copied to a cd? currently, the file indicates the
date on which it was copied to cd, not the last time it
was updated.

When in Windows Explorer, right-click on any column heading, such as "Name"
and then select from the drop-down menu which additional columns you want to
display.
