My Sony VAIO with XP Home will not print on an hp 895cse
connected by USB. Error message is always "this document
failed to print", whether trying to print test page, Word
doc., notepad, or webpage. Printer works great on old
Gateway running Win98, and on Dell laptop running XP Pro.
With Sony support, have done several uninstalls and
reinstalls of the printer; also a couple of complete
system recoveries. The unit has been back to Sony
twice. They say it prints with Epson printer.
HP diagnostics indicate the printer itself works fine,
and also that driver is installed ok and printer and
computer communicate. HP says they cannot help with a
new driver, other than what was in the embedded XP.

Have you gone through all the troubleshooting documents on the HP site? They are
extensive

There is an XP communication patch on the HP web site for your printer, might solve
your problems.

> I Upgraded from Windows 2k to Windows Xp. Now I have a very hard time connecting to
our HP Laserjet 2200DN printer throught the network. A few computers i did not format
before upgrading to XP can still work with the printer fine. So I am using them to
share with my other computers. I can print as the main admin on any computer through
the shared computer. I can't do any printing on any other user's on the computer.
Even if those account are set to admin or user they can not print, or even see the
shared printer.

the computer that has it shared.
