View Full Version : msn messenger privacy

My son has just installed a new hard drive and I now have
windows xp installed. When I downloaded the msn
messenger, I now find that no matter how I set the
security levels, (in the options menu) all you need to do
to access my list of contacts is hit the msn icon in the
start menu. The only time it asks for a log in password
is when you then go to the hotmail email account, because
i have it set to high security. Does anyone know how I
can stop the contact list itself being opened. (it's a
shared pc)

Greetings Sharon,
To stop this, click the Start Button, then click the Control Panel. Then, click User
Accounts in the Control Panel. Select your account name, and then on the left side of the
screen, under Related Tasks, click 'Manage my Network Passwords'. In the window that opens,
click the Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry and click 'Remove'.

To stop messenger keeping a list, you can also make a .reg file in
Notepad with this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa]
"disabledomaincreds"=dword:00000001
Save it as something.reg and doubleclick it... Disadvantage: everytime
you have to retype your emailaddress, but this is the most safe
solution. It works only for MSN Messenger.
