The date and time on my XP family system doesn't stay after
being set. It changes for an earlier date /or time in a
somewhat erratic way...
Any known solution for this problem ??

It is a Dell, isn't it?
Call support, they know how to fix it.
Two nice programs will allow you to sync the time on the
Internet, a little easier than Windows built-in time does,
Free from AnalogX www.analogx.com AtomicTime Sync
and for a small fee, Atom Time from www.atomtime.com I've
got both and they work well.

It's unlikely to be Xp.
Try setting the PC Clock in the BIOS during the POST.
When you 'Save and Exit', switch the machine off.
After 10 minutes, go into BIOS setup again and see
what the clock says - Your PC Battery may be faulty
or even the BIOS itself.
POST back and let us know how you go.

Hope this helps!

Do a google search on NISTime - it's a free service from
the gov that will synch your time with the gov's time.
