Turning computer off

I upgraded my computer from Window 98 to Windows XP Home.
Now when I try to turn my compouter off, it says it is now
safe to turn your comuter off. However there is no way to
turn it off. Even the power button will not work.
Can anyone hlep me?

Hi,

Try holding the power button in for 10 seconds. You may also find that you
need to enable APM in the power management settings.
