To delete or not to delete

I am new to win xp. I have noticed that I getting new
directories on my C:drive. These directories are a series
of numbers and letters (a4e4d5f4f1ab5d42e0f10fb5a7). Each
has a sub directory called sp2, with these having a
subdirctory of "update". I believe that these have to do
with some updates I recently installed. My question is if
I can safely remove these directories without any
consequences?? If not, can i just make one directory and
put them all in there? Thanks for any help..Ray

Do the latter and if this does not cause any problems you can delete
the data.
