Greetings - the problem that we're experiencing is as follows:
We do a clean installation of the MS XP OS and MS XP Office via a server. The source destination is something like this: \\server\<name>\<name>.
Everything works fine during the installation. But when it's time to update our problems begin. If the source is needed to read an MSI file then it can't seem to find it. So sometimes we opt to use our MCA CD. We point the needed file to the proper location on the CD but still no help. The error messages note that this wasn't the original source for the installation.
So it seems that the problem comes down to having access to the original location. Some questions that I have are as follows:
1. What if the server is down?
2. How would we go about using the CD instead of the original source?
3. Is this standard with all MS applications?
