freeing up ram

Hey,

When you go to My computer>properties>advanced>Performance

and uncheck everything it becomes like Windows 2000 does this free up ram
and performance because I really don't notice it. I feel it lagging up my PC
so I switch it back and everything is faster I have 512MB of Ram DDR and XP
pro.
