View Full Version : converting from fat32 to ntfs after setup

HELP Im lost
Im trying to convert my main drive which is fat 32 to
ntfs file system
Do i need to convert both drives c and d?
Also How the hell do i do it???? i need step by step not
the website which doesnt tell u much
I hit start run cmd at prompt i type
convert c: /fs:ntfs
then what? i get a message the drive needs to be
dismounted but what does that mean HELP!!!

Go to a command prompt. Assuming your main drive is drive C:, enter

convert c: /FS:NTFS

You will be prompted that it cannot convert the system volume, you must
dismount the volume. Reply yes. You will still have to reboot to convert the
system volume. Reboot, it takes about 3 minutes. Only convert the D: drive
if you want to. BTW, why do you want to convert to NTFS?
