I have windows xp home on my HP notebook, but do not have
the operating system disk. The machine won't go into
Windows because I am getting an error message that the
following file is missing or corrupted - \windows\system32
\config\system. Is there an easy way to get a copy of
this file? I tried copying it from my desktop (also XP
Home) but the file would not copy. I looked for
downloads of the operating system from Microsoft but
didn't see any on their website. HP support told me they
had a operating system disk available, then transferred
me to an area that hung up on me after leaving me on hold
for 15 minutes. I spent the next 2 hours trying to get
another human on the line and gave up. Does anyone have
any suggestions?
