When I insert a compact flash card into my usb card
reader, Windows gives me a list of choices:

Copy pictures to a folder ...

Print the ...

View a slideshow ...

Open folder ...

Take no action

plus an open to Always do the selected action.

Is there a way I can add a specific program of my own
choice to this list or otherwise launch it whenever a
compact flash card is inserted into the reader?

Go to this article:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/01/11/Autoplay/default.aspx

Scroll down to "Autoplay V2 Registration Mechanism" (or search for it) and
it gives directions on exactly how to do this.
