favorites icons change to default "e" in explorer

Some websites provide their own favorites icon when you
bookmark the site to your favorites.
Whenever I close internet explorer...these icons are gone
and the default "e" is back. This wasn't the case with
the older ie versions like 5.5
Is there a way to change this behavior other than going
to my win98 version and bookmark the same sites, to then
catch the icons from the temp folder and copying them to
another folder in winXP...and then change the icons back
manually....pfhh

I've been using it for a couple of years and I never have a problem with
favicons that it's collected (I'm using IE 6 now). Plus I get my
favorites verified every time I run it, so I can get rid of dead ones
and modify the ones that have been redirected or moved.

The favorites icons are deleted once the Temporary Internet Files are
cleared. This is by design.

The program "FavOrg" preserves the favorites icon permanently. You may
