Hi,

I have an XP Pro machine that is configured to be a WORKGROUP member (as
contrary to be a domain member). This XP machine is actually a laptop & I
use it at different places. One of them is the office where I work. When I
plug this laptop to the office hub, it does get an IP address release from
the DHCP server & from it, I can access other workstation on the office LAN.

However, the opposite is not true. That is, when I want to map a drive from
any office LAN workstation to the C drive of the laptop, I keep getting the
username/password window even when I enter the administrator account &
password of the laptop.

Does anyone have any solution to this?

Thank you

Peace,

What happens when you try to connect to the laptop using these credentials:

laptopname\administrator
theadminpassword

Unless you're using the above method, you might be inadvertantly trying to
pass local machine credentials to the laptop.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried to disable the "Simple Files Sharing" in the Folder Options ?
This might be an incorrect translation to english from my french XP version.
