I have 3 system here winXP PRO (sp1a)
I know sp1a removes the java option
this was not a good move by MS but anyway
Now i can not install any java_vm on my systems here at
work and I need to have them working right..
when we go to our web page we can see everything fine but
a java script we added..
we can see the script with any other OS as in winNT 2K
linux ect with no issues.
any help would be great as i dont want to kill off this
OS but i might have to..
thanks

SP1a does not include any update for the MS Java Machine nor does it remove
it if present. The "move" not to include it was due to a court decision that
came down in Sun's favor. Microsoft cannot distribute the MS JVM any longer.
There will be no security updates for users that still have it installed.
Download and install the browser plug-in from Sun (www.sun.com). To skip
wading through their site and all of their products, go right to a page they
have setup for installing just the browser plug-in: www.java.com

Microsoft was required to remove JVM because of a legal judgment as a result
of a lawsuit brought by Sun Microsystems. You can find the patches you need
at the links below.
MS JVM Version 3809
http://tinyurl.com/fwvu
MS JVM Version 3810
http://tinyurl.com/fwty
Once 3809 is installed you can get the Update 3810 - 816093 or use the link
above: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=816093

Since the legal battle that Microsoft had with Sun, Microsoft is
not legally permitted to supply its own Java Virtual Machine.
The VM is, however, available from a number of third party
Web Sites.
See http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html and
follow the directions there - that should help!!

Hope this helps!

Greetings --
As the result of a lawsuit by Sun Microsystems, and the ensuing
settlement, Microsoft is no longer allowed to provide its own Java
Virtual Machine to Windows users. You can get almost the same
functionality by downloading Sun's version of Java from
http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html. If you want the broader
capabilities of Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine, it is still
available from a lot of 3rd-party web sites, some of which are listed
here: http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html.
