I presume when your old Win98 drive was the boot partition
in your previous configuration, it was the C: drive. In
that case, if you configure it as the D: drive in your new
setup, you will encounter serious problems if you attempt
to boot from it, because the Win98 OS installed on it
still thinks it is on a C: drive.
You can get around this by leaving it as the master on IDE
1 and installing the new 120G drive as the master on IDE
2. It will then appear as the D: drive (also E:, F:, etc
as you see fit). You can then install XP on the D:
drive. I think you will have to do a clean install of
XP. I believe this will automatically install a dual-boot
manager for you.
