If it is bridged to another network device, it won't
remove. Right click on the item and choose the option to
unbridge. The item will then be available for deleting.

NOTE: There's a good chance that this is a part of the
network setup and shouldn't be removed. If the network is
working okay, just leave it alone.

No that's the point my network has gone down and it seems to be related to
this item

If you set Device Manager to show hidden devices and to list items by
connection, where does this item fall? Example: Some of the wireless
adapters show up as 1394 devices (firewire) even though they are not
firewire. An adapter might show two listings: one for the device and one
for the network adapter it provides.

For further assistance with this question, suggest that you repost in the
following group located on this same news server:
microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web

Be sure to include a description of your network (including the devices
creating the connections) in your message.

Mike, if that network adapter is listed in Device Manager - try disabling
it.
