There is only 1 user on my PC. I used to turn on the
computer and it simply booted into XP. Some service pack
component has forced me into to the Welcome screen where I
have to select my account before the full bootup is
completed. Is there a way to make an account the default
account and complete the full bootup without user
intervention?

Thanks

Keith

At the run prompt, type control userpasswords2. Uncheck 'users must enter
username...' Ok out and answer the automatic login prompt for your username.

To enable automatic logon of XP HE and XP Pro (not joined to a domain):

- [Start] | Run |
control userpasswords2
[Enter]

- /Users\
[ ] "Users Must Enter A User Name And Password
To Use This Computer"
[Enter]

- In the "Automatically Log On" dialog box,
type the user name and password for the account
to be logged on each time the computer starts.

To add "Control UserPasswords2" to the Control Panel,
I suggest you visit MS-MVP Kelly's website at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Note the instructions at the top of the page,
then scroll down to line 1, (right-hand column),
"Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel"

Right-click the hyperlink, then click | Save Target As |
to download the file, "AddUserPasswords2ToCP.reg",
then double-click the file and follow the prompts.
