You probably have a bunch of programs loading at startup. Look in your
startup folder and delete shortcuts for programs you don't need loaded at
startup. Also start|run|msconfig. Look for unneeded programs listed on the
startup tab.

it cant be the start up options because this is before it even gets to the

2 mins is an age for a system with that spec, XP home on
my system takes a max of 20 seconds to load.

I would clean up your disk space (remove all but latest
restore point, delete all temp files, empty recycle bin
then defrag your disk (s).

System services are started up before you log on so make
sure any that are not needed are disabled or set to
manual.

bootviz can help by moving the programs used during the
boot up sequence to the optimal place on disk.

Run it last after doing all the above.

The one service that increases your bootup time by at least 2 mins is
related to the server service. If you are not sharing any files and
have no plans to do so, you should disable file and printing services
in all of your internet connections. You should notice a huge speedup
in boot time from that one alone, but it's not all inclusive and
should not be your only solution for increasing your bootup time.
