How do split my viewing area between two monitors.

For that, right click the desktop>properties>settings. If you see 2
monitors in the preview window, then you have multi monitor
capability. If only one is there, then you do not have multi monitor
capability but you may have dual view, which is basically a duplicate
of your current desktop displayed on another monitor. Multi monitor is
activated by putting a check in 'extend the desktop to this monitor'
and okay your way out. You should see separate desktops displayed on
both monitors and you can switch open apps to either monitor to suit
your taste.
