System Properties snafu

(Remove "nospam" from my email address.)

I specified a "Computer Description" on the "Computer
Name" tab of "System Properties". This worked fine a few
days ago when I started using my new Windows XP system.
Today I noticed that the "Computer Description" is now
blank. Furthermore, the "Computer Description" field on
the "Computer Name" tab of "System Properties" is
disabled (will not accept input) and the "apply" button
is also disabled.

Why did this happen and how do I reactivate the "Computer
description" field and the "Apply" button so I can
specify a computer description?

Are you logged on as Administrator?

Workaround:
Edit the registry and give the computername here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\LanmanServer\Parameters

In the right-pane, look for the key "srvcomment".
