no virtual memory

the help topisc microsoft provides is bogus i need to get
my page file working again and xp wont let me i have 39gb
free and 512 mbs of ramn it says i dont have enough on
startup then says i cant change it

Hi,

Control Panel/system/advanced tab/performance settings/advanced tab/virtual
memory change - disable it, close up and reboot. See if there are still any
instances of pagefile.sys on any drive. If so, delete them, then reboot.
Otherwise, repeat the steps and reenable the virtual memory, reboot once
more. See if this helps.
