Clear your temporary internet files. Start | Programs |
Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.

Do you have an editor selected in Internet Options> Programs> Source
Editor?

ok, the temp file is empty, and all it has for editor
choices is html editor, which I have as notepad, and it
still wont view the source. The computer is brand new,
everything else is working perfectly.

Sounds like you have the basics covered (emptied TIF files and a working
Notepad program). You may want to try Bill James script to set up a text
editor as your source code viewer. Perhaps running the script will fix
whatever is broken in your "view source" settings.

that sounds a little radical, with a brand new program,
it should be working fine, any other suggestions? Do I
get some free support with a brand new xp installation?

Support for machines with XP preinstalled is provided by the system
manufacturer. Since the machine is brand new -- did the html editor ever
work? If yes, can you remember at what point it stopped working? Do you
have an available restore point in System Restore that is prior to that
point in time?

Free support for retail copies of XP is limited to 2 incidents.
