Network connections problem (Wireless)

My network has gone haywire !!

I've got a USB Netgear MA101 on my XP main computer and

a Netgear MA401 Card in my laptop

it has been running OK but has now gone haywire ...

I've tried a full reinstall on both computers but it isn't working properly

I get a connection between the 2 computers which seems OK but after about
30seconds the XP shuts down the connection with the message "Network cable
is unplugged" NB I've NEVER had a cable connection !!!!!

On the laptop (WinME) everything pauses

then after about 30 seconds the XP machine starts the connection again and
another Residential Gateway opens on the Laptop ...

this goes on and on happening at present there are 11 gateway devices in MY
Networks Places on the Laptop

HELP .... it's driving me crazy!!!

"Network cable unplugged" is not referring to a cable connection per se. It
is saying that the adapter on one of the computers has lost communications
with the hub, router or gateway. Could be a hardware problem between the
devices (faulty hardware or loose connection) or interference from
something like a refrigerator or microwave.

Or it could just be a statement in regards to the state of the existing
network.. For example, I run a desktop and a laptop workgroup off of a
wireless router. Desktop is hardwired to the router. Laptop is wireless. If
the desktop is offline, the laptop shows "network cable unplugged" for the
"missing computer."
