I seem to have lost my "shutdown computer" or "turn off
computer" icon. I lost it when a company on the web tried
to connect me to them and then charge me for the call. It
seems they sneakly deleted the icon, now I am not sure
how to restore it. Any help you give would be
appreciated....

Type regedit in Start - Run and look here
NoClose=20
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer=20
Data type Range Default value=20
REG_DWORD 0 | 1 0 =20
Description
Removes the Shut Down item from the Start menu and disables the Shut =
Down button on the Windows Security dialog box.
As a result, users cannot use the Windows user interface to shut down =
the system. However, this entry does not prevent users from running =
programs that shut down Windows.
This entry stores the setting of the Disable and remove the Shut Down =
command Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with =
a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or =
set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the =
registry and the system behaves as though the value is 0.
Value Meaning=20
0 The policy is disabled or not configured. The Shut Down items =
appear.=20
1 The policy is enabled. The Shut Down items do not appear.=20
--=20
