Notification Bar

There is an icon located in my notification bar. It is a
volume control bar but it is not complatable with my sound
card (I believe because it doesn't adjust my volume). I
went into a chat site and they told me to go to a web site
that would tell me what to do. The site said to right
click on the notification bar and click "Custimize
Notifications...". But when I go to click on it I can't,
the text is in grey and when i try to click on it, it
doesn't do anything, the right click menu stays on. Please
I would like some assisstance with this problem, I will
gladly be more specific if I need to be. Thank you.
