When I want to save a picture that I have downloaded from the internet, a
dialogue box appears asking for the folder to save it in.

I prefer to have the folders in this dialogue box in the "details" format ,
which I can do at the time, but how to I set it so that this format is
fixed.

I have done this for all the folders and files in Explorer but I cannot find
a way to do this with dialogue boxes.

Please help, Frank

Frank,

It's a limitation. The Common Dialog box views cannot be customized.

Thanks, but can it be done via the registry?

No.

There is no registry-tweak or user-interface procedure to do that.
