Where is Windows Update these days? All I get is a MS (but non-professional
looking) page full of non-working links. All Windows Update links from MS
web sites lead to this gibberish page.

do updates using start->help and support window.
this feature downloads and installs updates at same time.

Thanks for the quick answer. The Windows Update link I clicked in the Start>
Help and Support window got me a red X message box "Cannot display the
page", "The page you are trying to view cannot be displayed because the
server it resides on does not respond. Please try again later." My computer
is registered in Thailand and I get only Asia Pacific countries to choose
from in the "Select Country and Language" roll down menu in that Help and
Support window. Do I have a virus that would prevent me from accessing
Windows Update? Or is this just a temporary Asia server problem? I'm worried
sick! More help, please!

It's probably a temporary Asian server problem, but it
could be worse, so check these out:
Try scanning for Viruses at:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/activescan.asp?
Language=2&Country=63&Partner=1&Ref=EN-PR-AS-107
AND for Spyware at:
http://www.spywareguide.com/txt_onlinescan.html
Also Go to http://www.PCPitstop.com for an overall scan of
your PC.
And try:
https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
For more security scans.
They are ALL FREE!
Good Luck,

Hi,
Clear your TIF's and try again - control panel/internet options/general tab,
click on "delete files".

Cleared the TIFs (I do it everyday anyway). I check on these non-working WU
links ever since I discovered yesterday that they don't work and was able to
get WU one time through the
Start>Help and Support Center>Windows Update. A fluke. Downloaded the
updates I wanted but the link went kaput immediately after again. I have
virus-checked OK.Weird
stuff.
