is there a way that the "standby button" can be removed
from the shutdown dialog box or altogether COMPLETELY
DISABLE standby?

although ms kb says that xp SP1 should have fixed the
problem of corrupting hardrives > 137gb, my 200gb drive
was rendered COMPLETELY dysfunctional (and lost all data)
after ACCIDENTALLY placing the computer on a standby.

a horror.

any help/advice?
