How can I change the graphic file thumbnail size in Win Explorer?

I am new to Win XP Pro. I have found already that I like the
ability to select a view that shows graphical thumbnails for my
picture files.

How can I change the size of the thumbnails? In some cases, I
would like to make them smaller so I can see more files/pictues,
while other times I would like to make them larger so as to be
better able to tell what's in the picture.

[Set thumbnail options lets you control the size and quality of the thumbnails.
Click it to open a dialog box. The first option is Use Resample instead of
Resize for creating thumbnails. Click the check-box to have better quality
thumbnails displayed. This may take longer for the images to appear. The next
option is Thumbnail size. Click one of the option buttons to set a size for the
thumbnails. The default is 80 x 80 pixels.]

graphic formats, including BMP, DIB, JPEG, GIF, animated GIF, PNG, PCX,
multipage TIFF, TGA, and more. In addition, it features drag-and-drop support,

I have IffanView, Wes. My question was how can I change the
thumbnail size in Windows Explorer. I don't want to go to a
3rd party viewer - I want to stay in Explorer.

Any hints?

The only thing I could find was changing thumbnail image quality using
TweakUI.
That's why I included the IrfanView stuff.

Terrific, Wesley! There is, in fact, a setting in Tweak UI
for thumbnail size for Explorer. I completely overlooked it
when I looked at Tweak UI before.

Damn, you're right. On the same 'page' too. I missed it also.
Found this while looking for thumbnail size.
[Hold down the shift key when switching to thumbnail view to hide the file names. Do it
again to bring them back.]

Thanks for another great tip, Wes!

BTW, as near as I can tell, changing the thumbnail size in
Tweak UI doesn't take effect until the next time you open Win
Explorer. For some reason, unlike most Windows settings, it
doesn't take place immediately. Maybe I don't know what I'm
doing (very possible!), but I found that I had to close
Explorer and re-launch it for my new thumbnail size to
"take".

A lot of settings don't take place until you close and open. Or logoff, logon or
reboot.

[Thumbnails
The image quality slider control sets the fidelity of the thumbnail images. Higher quality
thumbnails require more memory and disk space. This is a per-user setting. This setting
applies only to the new thumbnails. Previously created thumbnails retain their original
quality setting.] I think you could copy them to disk, delete and copy back from disk.
