View Full Version : showing quick launch toolbar

If I right click on the taskbar, select properties, then
check off quick launch toolbar, then my taskbar doubles
in height. If I remove the quick launch toolbar, my
taskbar returns to its normal size. How can I have the
quick launch toolbar AND keep my taskbar to its normal
size. It has always been that way until yesterday. I
don't know what made it change.
The taskbar cannot be dragged to normal size with the
double headed arrow, even if it is unlocked.

Boy, some people are s-o-o-o picky! (;->

Seriously, all you need to do is to resize your Quick Launch toolbar. What
happened is that you unwittingly elongated it, so that it no longer fits on
one line. Lauch your Quick Launch toolbar and look for it's handles. Resize
the toolbar until it's just large enough to hold all the icons it has.

Hi Jennifer,

This can happen by opening Accessibility Options, etc. If the icons on the
Quick Launch bar are showing as being larger, it will result in the taskbar
being twice its height and also include the date or similar under the clock.

If this is the case, right click the Desktop/Properties/Appearance/
Advanced. Under the Item drop box choose Caption Buttons and change the
number by one, ok your way out, then rest to 25.

And/or reset your default to the XP Theme.

Other options to consider if the above doesn't help, nor moving the glider
over toward the Start Button to list only three icons in the Quick Launch
bar:

You are probably right. I have grabbed the handles, but
the double headed arrows will not move in either
direction. The handles appear before the quick launch
icons and at the beginning of the next row.

Right-click on the taskbar and remove the checkmark from 'Lock the Taskbar'.
Now try again.
