View Full Version : Custom Log On Message
Clive
January 8th 04, 08:17 PM
Some time ago I found a means to add a custom LOG ON
message... I typed some inane thing to see what the
results would be... intending to delete it later... now I
cannot find the application I need to delete or modify
that message...
Any suggestions ?
Thx

Thank you, that was so amazingly fast, however
unfortunately this didn't do it, when I went to the
registry those values were blank...
And as I recall it wasn't through the registry that I did
this... it was one of those little programs
in "Administrative Tools" (I think)...
Thx... anymore suggestions ?

Hi Clive,
Go to Start/Run/gpedit.msc Local Computer Policy/Computer
Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local Policies/Security
Options. Scroll down to Interactive logon: Message text for users
attempting to log on and Interactive logon: Message title for users
attempting to log on.
To Add or Customize:
Add Notice Dialog Box (Caption and Text) to Logon Screen (Line 110)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
To use the VBS Files: Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you
may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done.
NOTE: If your anti-virus software warns you of a "malicious" script, this is
normal if you have "Script Safe" or similar technology enabled. These
scripts are not malicious, but they do make changes to the System Registry.

Thank you so much...
After following Kelly's suggestions I had to go back and
delete the entry I made using your suggestion...
It seems that similar "message windows" (identical in
appearance)are stored in seperate ways... she had me go
to gpedit.msc and there it was.
You guys are amazing...
Thanks again and all the best for the new year.
